Wave curtains in Doha: the short answer

Wave curtains in Doha typically cost QAR 80–150 per squre metre for sheer, QAR 120–220 for blackout and QAR 200–350 for a sheer-plus-blackout double layer, fabric and stitching included, plus QAR 60–120 per metre for each wave track. Most homes are measured, made and fitted in 5–7 days.

The look depends on the track more than the fabric: carriers linked at a fixed spacing hold the folds even. Doha Home Fix measures free, checks your ceiling pocket and side wall space, and fits the track into concrete or timber backing.

What Makes a Wave Curtain Different?

A wave curtain has no pleats sewn into it. Instead, a snap tape along the top clips onto small carriers in the track, and those carriers are tied together by a cord at a fixed spacing. The spacing, not the stitching, creates the wave, so the folds stay equal from end to end and fall back into place every time you open or close it.

You will also see it called ripple fold or S-fold. It is the same idea. The difference that matters is quality: a proper wave track with a spacing cord, versus a cheap hook track with wave tape that looks good on day one and bunches by week two.

  • Folds project the same depth in front of and behind the track
  • Stacks tighter than pinch pleat, so more glass stays clear when open
  • Easy to take down: unsnap, wash, snap back on
  • Runs smoothly on motorised tracks because every carrier is linked

Small, Medium or Deep Wave: Choosing the Spacing

Carrier spacing sets how deep each wave is, how much fabric you need and how wide the curtain stacks. We show all three at the visit.

WaveCarrier spacingLookStack when openBest for
Small waveabout 60 mmTight, many soft ripplesSlightly widerSheers, narrow windows, shallow ceiling pockets
Medium waveabout 80 mmClassic balanced S-foldStandardMost living rooms and bedrooms in Doha
Deep waveabout 100 mmBold, sculpted foldsCompact, fewer carriersTall glass walls, villas, heavier blackout

Fabric rule of thumb: wave curtains use roughly 2 to 2.5 times the track width in fabric. Deeper waves need a deeper ceiling pocket or curtain box, so we measure the pocket before recommending a size.

Wave Curtain Prices in Doha (2026)

Typical ranges per metre of track width, fabric and stitching included. The exact figure is on your written quote after the free measurement.

ItemTypical priceWhat changes the price
Sheer wave curtainQAR 80–150 / mVoile quality, wave size, fabric width
Blackout wave curtainQAR 120–220 / m3-pass vs coated, lining, colour
Double wave (sheer + blackout)QAR 200–350 / mBoth fabrics, needs two track lines
Manual wave track, per lineQAR 60–120 / mCeiling or wall, straight or curved, backing
Motorised wave track with motorQAR 1,100–2,500 / windowMotor type, width, remote, switch or app
Converting existing curtains to waveQAR 40–90 / mOnly if fabric width and length allow it

Worked example: a 3 m living room window with a sheer-plus-blackout double wave at about QAR 250/m (QAR 750) and two manual wave track lines at about QAR 80/m (QAR 480) comes to roughly QAR 1,230 fitted. Motorising the blackout layer adds about QAR 1,100–1,500. Wave usually costs 20–30% more than the same fabric in pinch pleat, mostly because of the track. These figures are a 2026 Doha market guide; your quote is based on your windows and fabric.

Where Wave Curtains Work, and Where They Don’t

Wave is our most requested style, but it is not right for every window. This is what we tell customers at the visit.

Floor-to-ceiling glass

Long runs of glass in Lusail, West Bay and Pearl apartments are where wave looks best. The even folds read as one clean wall of fabric.

Gypsum ceiling pockets

Many Doha flats have a recessed curtain pocket in the false ceiling. Wave hides the track completely, as long as the pocket is deep enough for the folds.

Motorised curtains

Linked carriers glide evenly under a motor. If you want remote or app control, wave is the easiest style to automate.

Shallow curtain boxes

If the pocket or box is too shallow, the folds rub the wall or glass. We then suggest a small wave, a new box, or pinch pleat instead.

No side wall at all

With glass running wall to wall, a wave stack will cover part of the window when open. A one-way draw or a different layout may suit better.

Formal majlis rooms

For a traditional, heavily dressed look, pinch pleat often suits the room better. Compare styles on our curtain making page.

Planning Motorised Wave Curtains in Doha

A motor is the easy part. Most problems come from not planning power and access before the ceiling is finished.

  • Power Near the Track

Wired motors need a socket or fused spur at one end of the track, usually inside the ceiling pocket. Our electrical team can add one before the curtains go up.

  • Battery Motors for Finished Ceilings

If you don’t want to open the ceiling, rechargeable motors avoid new wiring. They need charging every few months depending on use.

  • Remote, Switch or App

Control by remote, wall switch or phone app, with timers to close at midday when Doha sun hits hardest. Many motors link to Alexa or Google Home.

  • Motorise One Layer or Both

Many customers motorise only the blackout layer and keep the sheer manual, which saves roughly half the motor cost.

Wave-Specific Checks and Care in Doha

These are the extra checks wave curtains need on top of our normal curtain measurement, and how to keep them looking right.

  1. Pocket depth. We measure the depth of the ceiling pocket or curtain box. A double wave needs noticeably more depth than a single layer, and deep waves need more than small ones.
  2. Stack space on each side. On a 2–3 m window, plan roughly 20–30 cm of wall per side so the open stack clears the glass. Heavier blackout needs more.
  3. Straight track or curve. Corner and bay windows need a bent or curved wave track so the spacing cord runs smoothly through the bend.
  4. Finished drop. Wave curtains are usually made to finish about 1 cm above the floor. Because the tape clips below the track, we measure from the carrier, not the ceiling.
  5. Washing. Unsnap the curtain from the carriers, wash sheers on a gentle cycle, and hang back on the track slightly damp so the folds settle. Don’t iron over the snap tape.
  6. Dust and sun. Doha dust settles in the tops of the folds. A soft brush or vacuum brush attachment every couple of weeks keeps them clean, and a sheer front layer protects blackout from fading.

From the very first conversation, they listened carefully to every detail. They custom-built and installed a perfect shelf above my washing machine — exactly the right size, perfectly fitted, and beautifully finished. Every single day for a whole year, I used that shelf, and every single day, it reminded me of the quality of their work. Not one loose screw. Not one crack. Perfect — just as they built it. Wave Curtains in Doha: Your Questions Answered

Price, tracks, blackout, motors and timing.

A wave curtain is a made-to-measure curtain that hangs in even, continuous S-shaped folds from the front of the track to the back. A snap tape sewn into the top clips onto carriers that are linked by a cord at a fixed spacing, so the folds stay the same depth along the whole width whether the curtain is open or closed. It is also called ripple fold or S-fold.
In Doha, wave curtains typically cost QAR 80 to 150 per metre of track for sheer, QAR 120 to 220 for blackout, and QAR 200 to 350 for a sheer and blackout double layer, fabric and stitching included. A manual wave track adds QAR 60 to 120 per metre for each layer. A 3 metre living room window with a double wave curtain comes to roughly QAR 1,200 fitted. Your fixed figure comes on a written quote once we have measured.
Usually not. Wave curtains need a wave track with carriers linked by a spacing cord. A standard hook track has loose gliders, so the folds bunch and lose their shape. Some good quality tracks accept wave carriers, and we check yours at the measurement visit before quoting a new one.
Yes. Wave works with 3-pass blackout fabric and with lined curtains. Blackout is heavier and stiffer than sheer, so we choose a strong track, fix it into concrete or timber backing, and check that your ceiling pocket or curtain box is deep enough for the folds. For full darkness, the track should run wider than the window on both sides.
Wave curtains stack neatly, but they still need somewhere to go. On a typical 2 to 3 metre window, plan roughly 20 to 30 cm of wall on each side so the stack clears the glass. Heavier blackout stacks wider than sheer. If there is no side space, a one-way draw to the side with more wall is an option.
Yes. Wave is one of the best styles for motorised tracks because the carriers are already linked at a fixed spacing. You can open and close them with a remote, a wall switch or a phone app, and many motors link to Alexa or Google Home. A wired motor needs a power point near one end of the track, which is best planned before painting or finishing a new ceiling.
About 5 to 7 days from measurement to fitting for most homes. It can take up to 10 days if a motor, a curved track or a special fabric has to be ordered. Fitting a full apartment usually takes half a day.
